Organizations around the community give out backpacks ahead of school year
POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - As kids get ready to head back to school soon, parents are getting a helping hand in Pooler.
240 back-to-school kits were prepared for students and given out at the Pooler stadium.
The kits consisted of backpacks, supplies, and other school essentials. Organizations from around the community donated to the event.
“We partner with various other organizations and non-profits to donate to the middle-class community, giving back. We collected 240 bags to giveaway stuff with paper and folders and pencils, crayons, scissors, all the general back-to-school supplies,” said Empire Community Program founder Tonya Harris.
Harris encourages the community to get involved and help prepare our students.
