Online threat targeting school in Liberty County prompts investigation

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation following a threat posted on Facebook claiming that someone intends to “shoot up Bradwell Institute” on the first day of school.

Deputies say this is not a matter they plan to take lightly. Investigators are actively looking into the situation.

“We take all threats seriously and will pursue those responsible to the fullest extent of the law,” said the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office in a post on Facebook.

The Liberty County School system released the following statement in response to the investigation:

Liberty County School System is aware of the reported social media threat related to Bradwell Institute. We take all threats seriously, and the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are actively investigating the situation.
