New executive order from Gov. Kemp doubles indicted Guyton Councilman’s review commission time

by Christopher Teuton

GUYTON, Ga. (WTOC) - Governor Brian Kemp has granted an extension to the committee reviewing whether or not recently indicted Guyton city councilman Theodore Hamby will keep his elected position or be removed.

Hamby was arrested in March 2025 and indicted in June 2025 on charges of three counts of financial transaction fraud and two counts of making false statements.

In mid-July 2025, Governor Kemp issued an executive order to appoint a review commission to determine Hambly’s future in office.

The commission originally had 14 days to look over Hambly’s indictments and accusations, but will now have twice that.

According to a new executive order from Kemp issued on July 31, the commission has been granted and additional two weeks to look over their findings.

The new deadline for Hambly’s review commission to make its written report is August 14, 2025.
