SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - WTOC is getting answers about new data showing Savannah reporting no hate crimes occurring last year.

An FBI report shows Savannah is one of 64 U.S. cities with a population over 100,000 that reported no hate crimes.

Mayor Van Johnson spoke about this Tuesday.

He agreed with the numbers, saying the city tracks hate crimes, but hasn’t had any to report.

“If you know of a crime that you think was, lift it up and we will re-investigate it if we have to. But as I put that offer out there before, we’ve gotten no takers because we’re a city that does not tolerate hate,” said Savannah Mayor Van Johnson.

WTOC sat down with a couple different representatives of marginalized communities to get their thoughts on these numbers.
