SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Hundreds of locals and tourists lined the river to tour the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, a 295-foot sailing vessel that was docked on River Street this weekend.

“We’re just kind of showing off the Coast Guard and showcasing what we have to offer. We have people at each station talking about the boat, people get to experience it,” says Lincoln Bibla, U.S Coast Guard 4th Class.

“Today’s been very busy. You know, the line hasn’t really slowed down all day, so it’s been pretty good,” he continued.

Savannah is the Eagle’s first stop during its 106-day voyage along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf of America.

“Coming to Savannah, I think that it’s a big Coast Guard port, we have an air station not too far away, there’s a big presence of the Coast Guard here,” said Darold Taylor, U.S Coast Guard 3rd Class.

“Everybody loves it. I’ve had people come up to me all day, telling me how awesome it is that we’re here in Savannah, and ‘when are [you] coming back?” said Bibla.
