EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A father and son have been arrested following a barricade incident in Eden.

Effingham County deputies responded to a domestic situation at a home in the Fox Bow neighborhood on Ridge Road around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When deputies arrived on scene, George Driggers, 47, was chasing his girlfriend with a gun and threatening to use it on deputies.

Deputies say less lethal force was used on Driggers to disarm him, but the suspect barricaded himself in the home for over an hour as they tried to communicate with him.

Georgia State Patrol, Rincon Police, and Effingham Fire also responded to assist.

Chemical munition was used to get Driggers out of the home.

He was then taken into custody and transported to Effingham County jail.

Driggers was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of obstruction and disorderly conduct.

Driggers’ father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also arrested for obstruction.
