Family awaits justice in 2024 shooting death outside Bryan County gas station
BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The family of Michael R. Brown IV is speaking with WTOC after he was tragically killed.
The shooting happened on his lunch break last September, outside Loves gas station off of Highway 280.
“We just have not heard anything. Four people should not be free to do what they want when my nephew is six feet under,” Michael’s aunt, Dianna Simmons told WTOC.
His family wants to bring awareness to his case and gun violence in the community.
“If you have sons that are out there that have guns, please tell them to put the guns down because they’re hurting people. They’re hurting the loved ones of special people,” said Kewanie Bryan, Brown’s cousin.
Brown’s family described him as a wonderful man who adored his family. They told WTOC that he did not deserve what happened to him.
Brown although deceased, continues to provide for his family.
Brown’s grandmother was in need of a new kidney and after his death he was able to donate his to her.
“So, for her to be walking around with a piece of him, it, he prolonged her life. He gave her the ability to get better and he’s forever my hero. That’s how I remember him,” Brown’s mom, Rasheita Gardner told WTOC.
Tremaine Jamerson, Rodney Williams, Christopher Sessoms, and Darion Dunte Mcdowell are the four men being charged in association of his death.
“I did not expect to not to see him again and for these 4 suspects to just be on bond and for their charges not to fit the crime, it’s a slap in the face,” said Gardner
Michaels family continues to plead for justice for his death. The 4 suspects’ case is still going through the court system.
“I’m not going to rest until justice is served,” said Gardner.
Brown was just 24 years old when he died last September.
