Drug investigation leads to arrest in Sylvania

SYLVANIA, Ga. (WTOC) - A drug investigation by the Screven County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force resulted in an arrest Tuesday.

Martese Williams was taken into custody April 8 at Acre Road in Sylvania.

Investigators seized MDMA, psychedelic mushrooms, THC products, marijuana, stolen firearms, drug manufacturing equipment and liquor manufacturing equipment.

“This investigation is the result of diligent investigative work by our Drug Task Force and partnering agency, Sylvania Police Department. This task force was one of my main goals when I took office,” said Sheriff Norman Royal. “Removing illegal, dangerous drugs and weapons from our community remains a top priority. We appreciate the support of our Screven County residents and will continue to pursue those who threaten public safety.”

The investigation remains active. Law enforcement said charges and additional evidence may be forthcoming.
