WTOC Top Teacher: Jacqulyn Rotz

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - For Jacqulyn Rotz, teaching fourth grade at Ebenezer Elementary School isn’t just a job, it’s a calling. That’s why she’s this week’s WTOC Top Teacher.
“I love coming to work everyday, I love Ebenezer, this is like my school family,” Rotz said. “I just think teaching is such a nice calling to have, and people that get to teach, we get to do this, it’s just such a blessing to get to this.”
Rotz said she wants her students to learn but also to build confidence.
“To feel loved, to feel accomplished, making sure they feel like they have a sense of success,” Rotz said. “And to never leave the classroom feeling defeated.”
“You make it fun, we do different rewards, we have a whoa chart, you put it on display to make them feel proud of themselves,” Rotz said.
Rotz said she views teaching as her calling and uses it as motivation for her own family.
“My husband and my kids. I want them to see that I love my job, and I want them to grow up, knowing that you can find a job that you can also love,” Rotz said. “I don’t want them to find a profession that they don’t want to do.”
