Dave Turley’s First Alert Weather forecast for Friday, Sept. 26, 2025
Another hot and muggy day with highs reaching near 90. Our average high is 85. Scattered showers and storms develop late afternoon through the evening. Storms are not expected to be severe but some locally heavy rain is possible. A cold front moves in tonight into Saturday with a much better chance for showers and storms. The weekend will see a slightly better rain chance Saturday than Sunday with seasonable temps. It will not rain all day Saturday but will be widely scattered mainly in the afternoon and evening. The front should stall just to our east into next week. The forecast for next week is highly uncertain right now. It all depends on where Invest 94L decides to go. Right now computer models have a wide range of possibilities. Some bring it inland over South Carolina and potentially linger it over our area into Wednesday. Some keep it just off the southeast coast before moving away Tuesday and Wednesday. We have made Monday and Tuesday First Alert WX Days due to this potential. We should have better confidence in the track once we have a center of circulation. That is expected to happen late tonight into Saturday. Bottom line, changes are possible so make sure to get daily updates.

Coastal Waters Forecast: Today: SW winds at 10 kt becoming S this afternoon. Seas: 2-3 ft. Tonight: S winds at 5-10 kt becoming SW after midnight. Seas: 2 ft.
Tropical Weather Outlook: Hurricane Humberto is located over the central subtropical Atlantic. This system will move in between North Carolina and Bermuda Tuesday as a major hurricane. Humberto is no threat to the us BUT could play a big factor in what happens with Invest 94L. A tropical wave(Invest 94L) located near eastern Cuba is starting to get better organized. There is a 90% chance for tropical development as the system moves towards the Bahamas into Saturday. Most computer develop this system into a hurricane with the name Imelda. The trend has been shifting westward with some moving it inland over South Carolina but it’s too early to say for certain where it will go so make sure to get daily updates.
