City of Walthourville trash pickup issues resolved, services resume

by Christopher Teuton, Stephanie Adkisson

WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Trash pickup services are resuming in Walthourville, WTOC has learned.

This news comes roughly a week after an emergency city council meeting turned tense when Atlantic Waste Services announced the city’s service would be suspended.

The suspension was due to a lack of payment from the city, and meant trash wouldn’t be picked up anymore starting on August 25, 2025.

However, Atlantic Waste has confirmed to WTOC that the City of Walthourville paid its oldest invoice on Monday and trash pickup services resumed on the same day.

“The city and its officials have been fully cooperative,” Brad Bowman, VP of Atlantic Waste Services said. “We have worked out a payment play going forward.”

Bowman says they do not anticipate any service delays moving forward.
