Rick Jackson campaigns in Thunderbolt ahead of Georgia GOP gubernatorial runoff

THUNDERBOLT, Ga. (WTOC) - There’s less than two weeks before the runoff election for Georgia’s Republican candidate for governor.
Rick Jackson made a stop in Thunderbolt Thursday to explain why he should win.
Jackson spoke to a packed crowd at Tubby’s- outlining his background- as a child in foster care who went on to become a successful businessman.
He made the case to potential voters that because he’s independently wealthy- as governor, no one could buy him.
He’s facing Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones in the runoff for the Republican nomination.
Thursday marked Jackson’s fourth stop to the Savannah area since he announced his campaign- saying it’s a region he would focus on if elected.
“I think we have more that we can get done in our rural areas, in Coastal Georgia, and everywhere else, so that’s the part I’m most excited about, is to do that,” said Jackson. “I guarantee you I will never forget about Coastal Georgia, period.”
The runoff election is on June 16th.
The winner will face Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms in November.
