Chatham Co. man indicted for multiple child sex crimes, incest lasting years

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WTOC) - Joshua Michael Nichols (40) was indicted on aggravated child molestation, incest, aggravated child molestation, and a separate count of incest by a Grand Jury on July 2.

The indictment reveals Nichols allegedly committed these offenses on a family member from January 2015 through January 2019.

The acts allegedly occurred at a mobile home park off Salt Creek Road in Garden City.

Years ago, Nichols was given a $5,000 bond with restrictions to be on house arrest except for employment, emergency health issues, probation reporting, and court appearances. He was assigned an ankle monitor.

The same bond order reveals Nichols had two children living in the home with he and his wife.

Nichols’ wife was pregnant and expecting their third child (due in November 2022) at the time.

Part of the conditions of the house arrest were that Nichols was not allowed to attend church, meals with his family, or activities with his children.

According to the July 2, 2025 indictment, the “indecent and immoral act” happened with a female child under the age of 16 and involved sodomy.

The same day in August 2022 in which the bond orders were given, Nichols requested the conditions be modified to allow him to go with his wife to her doctor’s appointments and to the hospital for delivery.

Nichols also requested the “house arrest” condition of his bond to be lifted.

In September 2022, the state granted that modification to his bond.

There have been no additional updates in his case until the July 2 indictment.

Nichols has an arraignment scheduled for August 27, 2025, in front of Judge Middleton, where he will likely plead guilty or not guilty to these charges.
