Bond denied for 2 out of 5 Oglethorpe Mall shooting suspects
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 5:22 p.m. 7/24/2025] Jonah Pine, the lawyer representing 16-year-old Oglethorpe Mall shooting suspect Dahmil Johnson, provided a statement to WTOC regarding Johnson’s bond denial.
Though we are disappointed by the decision, we cannot pretend to be surprised, especially given the nature of the case. We are confident moving forward that Judge Karpf will properly balance Mr. Johnson’s rights and the concerns of the community. We have no doubt that the law and evidence will be on our side.

[UPDATE 11:17 a.m. 7/24/2025] WTOC has spoken to Jonah Pine, the lawyer representing 16-year-old Dahmil Johnson, one of the five people charged in the Oglethorpe Mall shooting on June 2.
According to Pine, Johnson was denied bond.
This is the second suspect in the Oglethorpe Mall shooting case who has been denied bond.
The first was 20-year-old Jonathan Jones, who you can read about below.
[ORIGINAL STORY] So far, five people have been charged in relation to the shooting at the Oglethorpe Mall on July 2nd.

That shooting left multiple people injured and a woman died from heart complications after running from the shooting.

One of those shooting suspects appeared before a judge Tuesday for a bond hearing.
20-year-old Jonathan Jones had that bond hearing Tuesday morning.
District Attorney Shalena Jones represented the state herself and requested that bond be denied.
Judge Karpf agreed and it was denied.
Next Wednesday, on July 30th, the other four suspects are due in court.



20-year-old Aujawan Hymon, 20-year-old Theron Robbins, 17-year-old Royce Haynes and 16-year old-Dahmil Johnson- who we don’t yet have a mug shot for.
They’re all facing various charges, some including murder, aggravated assault and various gun charges.
Some are only facing gun charges.
