37 Georgia nursing homes at risk of closure
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The WTOC Investigates team has found over half the nursing homes in the Savannah area are rated below average- and Senator Jon Ossoff says, things could get worse with the budget bill that just passed.
According to a study from Brown University, the budget puts 37 nursing homes in Georgia at risk of closure.
That includes Magnolia Manor in Liberty County, and Tattnall Healthcare Center and Glenvue Health and Rehab in Tattnall County.
There are no Savannah area nursing homes at risk.
Senator Jon Ossoff says that nursing homes in the state already struggle to provide adequate care- and this bill will make things worse.
“Georgia nursing homes are already struggling. Georgia seniors are already struggling,” said Ossoff, (D)- Georgia. “And here we have this law that is going to deepen their struggle, put seniors at risk, put nursing homes at risk in a situation where Georgia nursing homes are already at risk and struggling to get the care they need.”
