10 dogs rescued, Beaufort Co. man charged with animal fighting and ill treatment of animals
BEAUFORT COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Monday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division or SLED charged 54-year-old Spencer Lamont Moultrie with Animal Fighting or Baiting and Ill Treatment of Animals.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, SLED searched the address on Moultrie’s driver’s license and found 10 dogs on the property, along items associated with dogfighting.
“A vet examined the dogs and determined that nine of them had a scar pattern consistent with organized dogfighting,” continued the arrest warrant affidavit.
The 10 dogs were brought to the Humane World for Animals organization for veterinary care during the operation.
Moultrie has since been booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
