‘Tens of thousands’ of art materials donated to SCCPSS schools by SCAD
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) announced a donation of tens of thousands of art materials to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in a press release July 29, 2025, as part of the university’s annual art supply donation event.
According to the announcement, the donated art materials were presented to the more than 50 art educators.
These items were donated by SCAD students at the end of the academic year.
The release states that, in 2025, “SCAD SERVE set up additional donation sites across campus and collected more supplies than ever before.”
This is one of my favorite SCAD SERVE events, because I know how much this day means to our local art teachers.
These materials will enrich art education throughout the county inspiring the next generation of artists and designers.
Scott Linzey, SCAD SERVE Vice President
The donated art materials from SCAD include paint, brushes, fabric, charcoal, sketch paper, portfolio bags and many other artistic tools.
Every SCCPSS school received a box of new supplies and teachers “shopped” for other free classroom materials, according to the announcement.
“On behalf of our district, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to SCAD for their continued support through the annual Back to School art supply donation event.
This incredible gesture provides our educators with valuable classroom resources and demonstrates SCAD’s unwavering commitment to nurturing creativity and learning.
Our teachers eagerly anticipate this event each year, and we’re deeply grateful for SCAD’s partnership in empowering both staff and students throughout the year.
Dr. Denise Watts, SCCPSS superintendent
Inaugurated by SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace, the SCAD SERVE program has helped to make arts education possible for thousands of students since 2010.
