Where to celebrate July 4: Savannah area marks the 250th anniversary of America

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Fireworks, friends, family and fun — with the 250th anniversary of America happening this weekend, Savannah and its surrounding areas are booked and busy with a range of events and celebrations to attend.
There is something happening for all ages and communities, both across the Southeast region and across the entire nation. Here are some of the major events on or leading up to Saturday, July 4 by area.
Savannah, Georgia
July 4 Riverfront Celebration
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: 4-10 p.m.
Location: Savannah Convention Center, 1 International Dr.
Cost: Free admission
Details: Get a front row view to the Savannah Waterfront’s fireworks show featuring live entertainment, food vendors, family-friendly activities and a full-service bar. Parking is $25 on-site. River Street will close to vehicles around 6 p.m., and metered downtown parking is free on July 4. New parking garages are available at 620 East River St., 500 West River St. and 301 Passage Way.
Eastern Wharf July 4 with The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: 6-10 p.m.
Location: The Park at Eastern Wharf, 101 Port St.
Cost: Free admission, limited VIP tickets available on Eventbrite
Details: Celebrate Independence Day with a band orchestra, parade, food trucks and a fireworks show starting at 9:30 p.m.
Button Gwinnett Wreath Laying Ceremony
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Colonial Park Cemetery, Button Gwinnett Monument, 200 Abercorn St.
Details: Three local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution from Savannah, McIntosh and Bonaventure with other invited societies will lay wreaths at the monument Saturday morning. The public is invited to honor the Georgia signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum Stars and Stripes Celebration
Date: Friday, July 3
Time: 12-6 p.m.
Location: Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, 41 MLK Jr. Blvd.
Cost: Tickets are $22, free admission for children 3 years old and under
Details: Enjoy maritime golf, cornhole, live music, family activities, cool drinks, tasty treats and a picnic atmosphere in the garden with vendors including Leopold’s Ice Cream, King of Pops and Naked Dog Hot Dog Cart.
Third Annual 4th of July Neighborhood Parade
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: Hull Park, 55th Street & Atlantic Avenue, Savannah
Details: Celebrate Independence Day at the Midtown Parents Group’s Third Annual 4th of July Neighborhood Parade. The free, family-friendly event features a neighborhood parade, costume contests, games, activities, food, music and a splash pad. Contest categories include Best Bike or Wagon, Best Group Costume and Most Patriotic Pet.
Tybee Island, Georgia
July 4 Bike Parade
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Memorial Park by the flags, 402 Jones Ave.
Details: This year’s celebration will be especially meaningful as a Gold Star Family will be welcomed and honored as Grand Marshal. Gather family, decorate bikes in patriotic style and join friends and neighbors for one of Tybee’s most beloved traditions.
Tybee Island America 250 Fireworks

Time: Fireworks will start between 9:15-9:30 p.m.
Location: Tybee Pier and Pavilion, 1 Tybrisa St.
Cost: Free admission
Details: Come early and stay late — Tybee’s fireworks show can be enjoyed from any of the eastern beaches. After the fireworks, stick around to enjoy special dining and drink offers at local restaurants and bars.
Boots, Beaches and Fireworks
Date: Saturday, July 4

Location: Tybee Pier and Pavilion, 1 Tybrisa St.
Cost: Free admission
Details: Celebrate the 250th birthday of America with a full day of family fun, country music, food and fireworks. Events throughout the day include DJ MatKa playing line dancing hits, a watermelon eating contest, live country music by BakBond and local vendors, ending off with a fireworks show.
Fort Stewart, Georgia
Fort Stewart-Hunter 250th Independence Day Celebration
Date: Thursday, July 2
Time: 5-10 p.m.
Location: Donovan Field on Fort Stewart
Details: Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with music, food, community, family-friendly activities and fireworks. A Battle of the Bands will feature local, up-and-coming talent, while food trucks will be available throughout the night, ending off with a fireworks finale.
Fort Pulaski, Georgia
July 4 at Fort Pulaski
Date: Saturday, July 4
Time: Open to the public Friday, July 3 to Sunday, June 5; Cannon firings Saturday, July 4
Location: 101 Fort Pulaski Rd.
Details: Experience the roar of cannon fire while park rangers narrate the firing process and provide a short program about the 1862 bombardment that breached Fort Pulaski’s walls, changing the history of fortifications. Cannon firings will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Each demonstration will last approximately 30 minutes.
Fort Pulaski will be free and open to the public July 3-5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the National Park Service’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Statesboro, Georgia
2026 Firecracker Fest
Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Time: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.)
Location: Mill Creek Regional Park, Statesboro, Georgia
Details: Celebrate America’s 250th birthday at the 2026 Firecracker Fest with live music, inflatables, children’s activities, food and craft vendors, the annual Frog Jumping Contest, and a fireworks finale. The event is free and family-friendly. Guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and enjoy an evening of patriotic fun.
