Volunteers needed as Tybee Island marks 10 years of International Coastal Cleanup Day

TYBEE ISLAND , Ga. (WTOC) - Community members are invited to help protect Georgia’s coastline during International Coastal Cleanup Day on Tybee Island.

SPJ Georgia will join Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers for a shoreline cleanup Sunday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion on Tybrisa Street.

The event is part of a global effort to remove litter from beaches and protect oceans and waterways. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Tybee Clean Beach Volunteers hosting the cleanup on Tybee Island.

The event is open to the public, and all cleanup supplies, including gloves and bags, will be provided.
