What the fair offers

The fair continues to have rides, a petting zoo and performances this year.

History of the fair

The South Georgia State Fair’s history dates to 1950. The Exchange Club of Savannah held its first fair then, known as the Coastal Empire Fair.

“Oh it just means a lot. It’s a great opportunity every year to give back and help people in need of help and also recognize people that are doing it the right way, law enforcement, teachers, students, medical field, EMS. We just like helping people and rewarding people,” said Marc Dunston, President of the Exchange Club of Savannah.

The goal was to help support youth programs.

The fair association said the fair has since created opportunities to donate millions of dollars to local charities and programs.

Hours for the final weekend

The fair is open until 10 p.m. tonight. It is open from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
