Volunteers beautify Live Oak neighborhood homes ahead of 912 Day finale

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Volunteers stepped up Friday morning to give back to longtime residents in Savannah’s Live Oak neighborhood as part of the city’s 912 Day festivities.

The City of Savannah partnered with Amazon and HouseProud for a block beautification project along 38th Street. Crews spent the morning mowing lawns, painting, and potting plants for four legacy senior homeowners.

City officials selected the homes based on blight, overgrown grass, and code compliance needs. Professional contractors will follow up in the coming days to complete larger structural renovations.

“We all know 912 Day is about showing love to our community,” said Arielle Ross, strategic communications manager for the City of Savannah. “This part is just about community service and giving back to the community that we live in.”

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the annual civic celebration.

The 912 Day weekend concludes Saturday with a free community concert at Forsyth Park from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a tailgate at Savannah State University.
