Union representing Chatham Area Transit says driver suspensions caused ride delays

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The union representing Chatham Area Transit workers says commuters experienced delays after several drivers were suspended without pay in an ongoing dispute with CAT leaders.

Union President Donya Swinton said multiple drivers were suspended without pay after missing a deadline to enroll in CAT’s new biometric time clock system.

Swinton said routes 25, 27, 28, 10E and 14 did not go out.

CAT CEO Stephanie Cutter sent a letter Friday saying any worker who had not applied to the new fingerprint biometric clock measure would be suspended without pay.

Swinton said workers have had issues with the new system.

CAT has not confirmed the bus route delays. As of this report, the transit agency had not responded to a request for comment.
