Today is a First Alert Weather Day

by Dylan Smith

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - We’ve issued First Alert Weather Day conditions for today through Sunday due to the hot conditions we’re expecting to see each afternoon.

Heading into this morning, we’re tracking another mild & muggy morning with starting temps in the 60s & 70s across the area.

Throughout today, we’ll continue to track mostly to partly sunny skies as high temperatures warm back into the mid to upper 90s across the area.

We’ll look for slightly cooler temps in the upper 80s to lower 90s out along the coast with a low rip current threat.

We’ll have a UV index of around 10 out of 11. If you plan on being outside today, be sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.

All of this heat and humidity could cause us to see a few isolated pop-up showers/weak thunderstorms form across inland areas west of I-95 during the afternoon.

We’re not expecting to see much at this time. Then, temps should then fall in the upper 70s under mostly clear later tonight.

Tomorrow, we should see starting temps back in the 60 & 70s across the area. By the afternoon, we should see high temperatures back in the mid to upper 90s throughout all inland areas.

Meanwhile, heat index values between 102-112 degrees across the area each afternoon.

All of this extra heat could cause a few thunderstorms to form during the afternoon each day. Be sure to stay updated on the latest forecast, especially if you have any outdoor plans this weekend.

Right now, it looks like we could keep these conditions through the start of next week until high rain chances finally cool down our temps by the middle of the week as our next cold front slowly pushes through the area.

In the meantime, be sure to stay hydrated and be extra careful around anything that could cause a spark in the area. Fire danger and drought conditions continue to remain high in the area.
