COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina continues to see record turnout in the 2026 general election.

The South Carolina Election Commission said that as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, 1,927,488 ballots were cast statewide. That makes up 56% of registered voters, according to the election commission.

Those numbers shatter two state records. The turnout percentage is now the highest in a gubernatorial election since 2002, while the total number of votes is the highest the state has seen since 2018.

Polls are still open until 7 p.m. Tuesday in South Carolina. Click/tap here for more information.
