SLED closes investigation into Hampton County councilman

HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 7/6/2026] The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division announced it closed its investigation into Hampton County Councilman Jordan Jinks.

In April, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, or SLED, was requested by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office to investigate alleged misconduct involving Jinks.

In May, SLED determined the matter was civil and closed the case.

No charges were filed against Jinks.

This is a developing story. WTOC will update with more information once available.

[ORIGINAL STORY 5/20,2026] The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating Hampton County Councilman Jordan Jinks.

SLED said they received a request April 2 from the Hampton County Sheriff’s Department to investigate Jinks.

SLED’s investigation is active and ongoing at this time.

WTOC reached out to Hampton County for comment, they sent us the following statement.

At this time, Hampton County does not comment on ongoing investigations. This matter is currently being handled by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and any inquiries or requests for information should be directed to their agency.
