SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah’s Pride community gathered Saturday at Starland Yard for one of the city’s biggest celebrations of the year.

The 9th annual Stonewall at Starland Yard Celebration was held from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the space on De Soto Avenue.

Organizers with the Savannah Pride Center said the event is more than a celebration, it is also a reminder of where the movement started and the communities that paved the way.

Held each year in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, the event serves as one of Savannah’s largest and most beloved Pride Month celebrations, bringing together thousands of community members, allies, local businesses, artists, and performers for a day of connection, visibility, and celebration.

More than 2,000 people were expected to attend.

Emily James, a vendor at the event, said the gathering brings together a wide range of artists and business owners.

“It’s a really great pride event with a lot of different vendors, a lot of LGBT owners, business owners, and amazing art and artists,” James said. “I’m feeling good, I’m really excited to be here.”
