Savannah police investigate 2 deadly shootings

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department is investigating two separate deadly shootings that happened Sunday.

The first shooting happened at the 10,000 block of Abercorn Street just before 2:30 p.m. The second happened at the 800 block of Porter Street around 6:25 p.m.

Abercorn Street shooting

Savannah Police arrived at the scene around 2 p.m. and found a man who had been shot. He died later at the hospital.

The investigation suggests the victim was known to the suspect, according to law enforcement. They had met to conduct a transaction. Both subjects were armed when the shooting happened.

No arrests have been made.

Porter Street shooting

Savannah police arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. after someone reported a gun being discharged on Porter Street.

Around four hours later, gunfire erupted at the 800 block of Porter Street. Savannah police arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. after someone reported a gun being discharged.

Investigators searched the area along Porter Street and found evidence of a shooting but no victim. Officers learned the victim arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were performed, but the woman died at the hospital.

No arrests have been made.

Savannah has had 11 homicides so far this year. Last year at this time, that number was 13. In 2024, that number was also 13.

Aggravated assaults with a gun, non-domestic, is down from the last two years.
