Savannah museum adds wish wall ahead of America’s 250th birthday

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah museum is marking America’s 250th birthday by turning a wall into a space for the public to share their hopes for the country’s future.
The Davenport House Museum unveiled a new mural on the side of the building during Civic Season — the period between Juneteenth and Independence Day when Americans reflect on the nation’s history.

About the mural
The wall was created through a partnership between Southwest Middle School Student Council and The Makers Guild, a local artist collective, according to Danielle Hodes, executive director of the Davenport House Museum.
“So, the wall itself was created as a partnership between Southwest Middle School Student Council and The Makers Guild which is a local artist collective,” Hodes said. “You know, this is the past that we’re talking about, but let’s talk about how that reflects on the future, that we’re at two-fifty, an incredibly kind of important milestone in our nation’s history. So how can we learn from that past to think about our future?”
How to participate
The Wish Wall will be on display at the Davenport House Museum through July 10. The museum is inviting the public to visit and record their wishes.
