Ossoff pushes for federal funding for Tybee Island beach project

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Sen. Jon Ossoff is pushing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to back Tybee Island’s next beach renourishment project.
Ossoff is urging the Corps to allocate $12 million in federal funding for the shovel-ready Tybee Island Shoreline Protection Project.
He said delays could leave the island more vulnerable to flooding and storm damage as erosion worsens.
Ossoff said the project has already completed its environmental review and is ready to begin.
