Campaign priorities

Bottoms told people at the cafe she plans to lower costs, continue SNAP benefits, expand Medicaid in Georgia and fund education.

At the Savannah stop, she said she wants to address the cost of living and continue Gov. Kemp’s initiative to keep Georgia No. 1 in business. She said the entire nation watches what happens in Georgia, a key influential state.

Statewide tour

Bottoms is using the tour to encourage Georgians to make their voices heard by Election Day. She and other Black leaders in Savannah said it is time for a leadership change in the state.

“Each time I step into a room with young voters, there’s concerns about access to mental health care, cost of living, concerns about their future,” Bottoms said. “Will there be job opportunities available because of concerns around AI? I’ve heard them loud and clear.”

What’s next

Bottoms continues her tour Saturday with stops in Columbus, Bainbridge and Albany.

Her Republican opponent, Rick Jackson, has a stop scheduled in Savannah on Monday at the airport. It begins at 2 p.m.
