Nikki Porcher wins Democratic runoff for Georgia labor commissioner

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Nikki Porcher defeated Michelle Sanchez in Tuesday’s Democratic runoff for labor commissioner, setting up a fall matchup against incumbent Bárbara Rivera Holmes, who is seeking her first election win in her own right.
Holmes was appointed commissioner by Gov. Brian Kemp in 2025 following the death of then-Commissioner Bruce Thompson. Holmes is the department’s 11th commissioner and is also the state’s first Latina constitutional officer.
