Man injured in Hinesville shooting outside Wawa gas station

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - A man was shot and wounded Friday night in Hinesville.

According to Hinesville Police Department Assistant Chief, Terronova Smith, the Hinesville Police Department is currently investigating an aggravated assault incident involving a shooting at the Wawa convenience store located at 721 Veterans Parkway which occurred shortly before 7 p.m.

The man shot has been transported by LifeStar to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah for medical treatment, his condition is unknown.

An individual is currently being detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officers are actively processing the scene, and portions of the area may remain restricted while investigators work.

The public is asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to allow emergency personnel and investigators to safely conduct their work.
