Man in custody after Ogeechee River stabbing victim shoots alleged attacker

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A suspect is in custody following a stabbing and shooting on a sandbar in the Ogeechee River, according to the Chatham County Police Department.
Police say the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Sunday near Shad Road.
Investigators say the victim arrived at the sandbar by Jet Ski before 47-year-old Kevin Ramage allegedly started a verbal confrontation. As the victim attempted to leave, police say Ramage stabbed him.
The victim told investigators he then fired a gun, striking Ramage.
Police say the victim left on his Jet Ski and met law enforcement officers and emergency crews at Morgan’s Bridge. Ramage was taken to a nearby fire station before being transported to a hospital with injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Ramage is in police custody and is expected to be served with an aggravated assault warrant before being transferred to the Chatham County Detention Center.
