Teen in custody after Garden City statutory rape arrest

GARDEN CITY, Ga. (WTOC) - 19-year-old Eder Cruz-Barahona is in jail on felony statutory rape charges from an investigation dating back to August, according to the Garden City Police Department.

Police said on August 12, an officer was called to Robert W. Groves High School to meet with a concerned parent. According to GCPD, the parent wanted to report inappropriate communications between her daughter and Cruz-Barahona.
Police said their investigation was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division, and the incident report notes the victim plans to prosecute.
Jail records show Cruz-Barahona was booked into the Chatham County jail. As of Thursday night, he is being held on an ICE detainer and has not been granted bond.
