Liberty County joins statewide Fourth of July traffic safety crackdown

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Drivers traveling during the Independence Day holiday can expect increased law enforcement patrols as the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office joins a statewide traffic safety campaign aimed at reducing crashes and saving lives.
The sheriff’s office is partnering with the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for Operation Zero Tolerance, a statewide enforcement campaign running June 29 through July 5.
During the campaign, deputies will focus on enforcing laws related to:
- Seat belt violations
- Speeding
- Distracted driving
- Impaired driving
- Aggressive driving
The initiative’s message is “Zero Excuses. Zero Tolerance. Zero Injuries.”
Officials are urging motorists to make safety a priority as they travel to holiday celebrations by buckling up on every trip, obeying posted speed limits, avoiding impaired driving, putting away cell phones and planning ahead for a sober ride home.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office says the increased enforcement is part of a statewide effort to reduce preventable crashes and keep Georgia’s roads safe throughout the busy Fourth of July travel period.
