Jim Kingston leans on affordability, Trump support in bid for Georgia’s 1st Congressional District

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Republican congressional candidate Jim Kingston is focusing his campaign on affordability, support for military families, and alignment with former President Donald Trump as voters head to the polls in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District.
Kingston is facing Democrat Amanda Hollowell for the seat, which has been held by a Republican since 1993. Kingston’s father, Jack Kingston, previously represented the district from the early 1990s until 2015.
A political newcomer, Kingston has emphasized southeast Georgia’s military communities alongside pocketbook issues throughout the race.
“I think the best thing to give taxpayers relief is to cut taxes,” Kingston said last week regarding his economic platform. “I’d support a flat tax. I’d support a fair tax, but really any form of tax simplification would make sense to me.”
Kingston describes himself as a committed Trump conservative, while also pledging to represent constituents of all political affiliations if elected to Congress.
Supporters are gathering Tuesday evening at Savannah Station ahead of the 7 p.m. poll closing.
