Guerry Lumber partners with P.A.C.K. Savannah to support 100 local children ahead of 100th anniversary

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah-based business is celebrating a major upcoming milestone by giving back to local families.

Guerry Lumber announced a new partnership on Wednesday with the local nonprofit organization People of Action Caring for Kids, also known as P.A.C.K. The announcement was marked by a check presentation at the Guerry Lumber facility, ahead of the company’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

Through the partnership, Guerry Lumber is sponsoring 100 local children through P.A.C.K.’s weekend food assistance program during the 2026-2027 school year.

In addition to financial support, Guerry Lumber employees will volunteer with the nonprofit each month to help pack and distribute food to Savannah-area children and families.

“As we look ahead to Guerry Lumber’s 100th anniversary next year, we wanted to find a meaningful way to celebrate this milestone by giving back to the community we have been proud to call home for a century,” Guerry Lumber President Will Wheat said. “Our partnership with P.A.C.K. allows us to make a tangible difference in the lives of local children while also giving our employees the opportunity to get involved and serve alongside an organization doing such important work in our community.”

P.A.C.K. works to address childhood food insecurity by providing nutritious food to children who may not have consistent access to meals over weekends and school breaks.

The partnership will continue throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Founded in 1927, Guerry Lumber has served the Savannah-area community and surrounding region for nearly a century.
