EmployAbility expands disability services into Bryan and Effingham counties

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - EmployAbility is expanding its Workforce Development and Enrichment Services into Bryan and Effingham counties as the nonprofit celebrates its 75th anniversary.

The expansion will provide more individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities access to employment opportunities, skill-building programs and community support closer to home.

“Expanding into Bryan and Effingham counties is about more than opening our doors in new communities, it’s about opening new possibilities for the individuals and families who live there,” EmployAbility CEO Brendan Ferrara said.

EmployAbility serves people ages 14 and older through several programs, including:

• Pre-Employment Transition Services
• Supported Employment
• Community Access
• Enrichment Services

The programs help participants build the skills, confidence and independence needed to succeed at work and participate more fully in their communities.

EmployAbility recently held community ice cream socials in Richmond Hill and Springfield to introduce its services to residents, families and local leaders. The events featured games, crafts and Leopold’s limited-edition EmployAbility Crunch ice cream.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Richmond Hill and Springfield communities for welcoming us with open arms,” Ferrara said. “The excitement, encouragement and support we experienced at both events reaffirmed that there is a tremendous opportunity to serve these communities.”

EmployAbility has served individuals across Coastal Georgia for 75 years through workforce development, supported employment and enrichment programs.
