SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Cure Childhood Cancer kicked off Peach Week 2026 by surprising young patients at the Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center with fresh Georgia peaches.

Representatives from Cure, along with Pearson Farm, arrived at the hospital on Waters Avenue around 11:30 a.m., bringing a truckload of peaches to hand-deliver to pediatric patients and their families.

The goal is to brighten a tough day at the hospital while also raising awareness for Peach Week later this month, when participating Savannah restaurants will serve peach-inspired dishes and donate a portion of their proceeds to Cure Childhood Cancer.

“Being able to go into the rooms with these patients and families and seeing the smiles light up as we come in, it is such a gift to be able to come in and just take part in this special day, and we are forever grateful to Pearson Farm for donating these peaches to us,” said Amanda Crosby, community engagement manager.

Cure has been fighting childhood cancer since 1975, investing more than $38 million in research and providing financial and emotional support to local families across Georgia and parts of South Carolina.
