Women’s Suffrage Series Highlights Liberty, Legacy, and Voting Rights in Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -Long before women secured the right to vote, progress depended on relationships, persistence, and collective action.
That history is at the center of a new two-part Women’s Suffrage Series hosted by the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace Museum. The series highlights the women who helped shape the suffrage movement, including early Girl Scout leaders whose advocacy extended beyond youth development and into the fight for voting rights.
The events aim to connect national suffrage history with Savannah’s local legacy, while also encouraging reflection on the continued importance of civic participation today.

Lecture: Monumental Friendships: The Persistence of Liberty
The first event in the series examines how personal and professional relationships strengthened the women’s suffrage movement. The lecture focuses on Juliette Gordon Low’s connections within the suffrage community and the broader network of women who worked to secure voting rights.
