Two people arrested for trafficking fentanyl in Hardeeville after fatal overdose, police say
HARDEEVILLE, SC (WTOC) - Two people have been arrested in Hardeeville for trafficking fentanyl after a fentanyl-induced homicide investigation that began in July 2025.
According to a media release from the Hardeeville Police Department, the investigation was focused on the sale of counterfeit prescription pills containing fentanyl located in the Hardeeville area.
The distribution of these pills is believed to have resulted in at least one fatal overdose, according to the police.
Over the course of the investigation “undercover purchases of suspected fentanyl were made,” which resulted in a search warrant being issued for the home of Marquis Alexander Webber, who had been identified as a primary suspect in this fentanyl distribution.
On August 7, detectives from both the Hardeeville Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant.
Police say they recovered “a trafficking amount of suspected Fentanyl, quantities of marijuana, multiple firearms, and other evidence.”
Webber, along with his girlfriend Asia Marie Green, were taken into custody.
Green (29) faces charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Trafficking Fentanyl, and two counts of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Webber (30) faces charges for Sale and Distribution of a Schedule II Drug (Fentanyl), Fentanyl-Induced Homicide, Trafficking Fentanyl, two counts of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Child Neglect.
“We urge our community to stay informed about the dangers of counterfeit pills and Fentanyl,” the release states. “For more information, please visit https://www.dea.gov/onepill and https://www.dea.gov/onepill/parents-and-caregivers."
