‘Harry Potter’ actor behind Lucius Malfoy spotted with Tybee Island police

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - While the local film industry continues to thrive in Chatham County, local officers recently crossed paths with a major Hollywood star who is currently in the area for a major production.

English actor Jason Isaacs, famous for portraying some of cinema’s most notorious villains—including the dark wizard Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies and the villainous Colonel William Tavington in The Patriot—recently took time out of his schedule to greet officers with the Tybee Island Police Department and show his support.

Isaacs is currently in the local area for the production of the upcoming mystery-thriller feature film Girl, directed by Destry Allyn Spielberg, daughter of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. The production has been actively filming throughout Savannah and neighboring coastal areas since late July.

During a break from production, Isaacs connected with Tybee Island officers. The police department shared a photo of the encounter on social media, joking that because their officers specialize in “catching bad guys,” it was only fitting that they tracked down one of the big screen’s most infamous antagonists.

In their post, the department thanked Isaacs for showing his support, greeting the team, and proudly wearing TIPD gear.

The film Girl also stars Maddie Ziegler, Luke Newton, and Sofia Wylie, and is scheduled to wrap up filming in the Savannah area this week.
