Two displaced after Burton sees second fire in two days

BURTON, S.C. (WTOC) - The Burton Fire District, MCAS Fire & Emergency Services, and Beaufort County EMS and Sheriff’s Office responded to the second fire in two days Friday.

Just before 3:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a reported camper fire on Shaklin Rd in Burton.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found flames coming from a camper that was within 10 feet of a mobile home.

Firefighters put out the fire before it spread to the mobile home; however, the mobile home sustained fire and heat damages to the siding.

Two adults living in the camper while they making repairs to their mobile home were displaced.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist.

Burton Fire crews say the fire appears unintentional and caused by an electrical issue.

No injuries were reported.

This is the second fire in two days for Burton.

On Wednesday morning, firefighters responded to a house fire on Bay Pines Rd. which also displaced two adults.

So far, the Burton Fire District has responded to 28 fires in 2025.
