by Olivia Wright

TOOMBS COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A devastating fatal car crash in Toombs County has left a family desperate for answers.

We spoke with them Monday about their push for justice.

Family members and the Toombs County Deputy Coroner confirmed 63-year-old Jimmy Vaughan lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday, August 16th.

The coroner tells us Vaughan suffered from compound fracture wounds and a broken neck.

The family says Vaughans’s son who was also in the car and suffered broken ribs and a leg.

The family says Vaughan was pulled over on the side of North Victory Drive picking up tree branches with his flashers on.

Later that morning, Kristin Deloach was booked into the Toombs County Jail on a DUI and a less safe charge for this incident.

Kristin Deloach

The family tells us they are seeking justice after Deloach was only charged with DUI and not homicide by vehicle.

WTOC reached out to Georgia State Patrol which is investigating this case for more details and information.

We have not heard back.
