Statesboro mayor to deliver annual State of the City address February 24
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar will host the city’s 2026 State of the City address on February 24 at seven p.m. at the Emma Kelly Theater in downtown Statesboro.
City leaders say the annual event highlights achievements from the past year while outlining goals and priorities for the future.
During the address, McCollar is expected to discuss economic growth, infrastructure improvements, public safety, housing investment, and efforts to strengthen the city’s housing stock.
A major focus this year will be youth investment, particularly childhood literacy and its connection to long-term economic opportunity.
The mayor will also address poverty reduction efforts, noting the city has seen another decline and now stands at 36 percent, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.
The program will include a flag presentation by the Statesboro High School JROTC Color Guard, the National Anthem performed by the Statesboro Youth Chorale, a musical performance, and a question-and-answer session moderated by our very own Dawn Baker. Light refreshments will follow.
The event is open to the public. Those unable to attend can watch the address live on the City of Statesboro Government Facebook page, with a recording available on the city’s YouTube channel the following day.
