Deputies investigating after 2 bodies recovered from northern Beaufort County waterways

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two bodies were recovered from separate waterways in northern Beaufort County on Sunday.

Investigators do not believe the two incidents are related at this time.

Deputies said the first report came in at 9:45 a.m. regarding a body in Chowan Creek. Deputies responded to the scene and recovered the body.

A second body was found a few hours later in the Broad River. The Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received the report at approximately 12:15 p.m., leading deputies to respond and recover the second body.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of both individuals once their next of kin have been notified. The causes of death are pending the autopsy results.

Both deaths remain under active investigation by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
