Screven County burglary suspect in custody for felony warrants in multiple counties
SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 11/23/25] The Screven County Sheriff’s Office said Dewayne Otto Meeks was taken into custody Sunday for felony warrants in Screven, Bulloch, Jenkins, and Burke Counties.
[UPDATE 11/16/25] Three individuals were arrested after the Screven County Sheriff’s Office said they determined the three were actively assisting a wanted man elude capture.
According to the sheriff’s office, Saturday morning wanted man Dewayne Otto Meeks was believed to be in the area of Plantation Road and Creek Road.
Law enforcement found three individuals while searching the area for Meeks.
“It was determined they had been actively assisting Meeks in his attempts to elude capture by giving him supplies and shelter,” wrote the Screven County Sheriff’s Office.
The three were arrested and are being charged with felonies for harboring a wanted person, according to law enforcement.
The Screven County Sheriff’s Office said Meeks is still believed to be in the area and law enforcement is still actively searching for him.
Anyone who spots Meeks is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
[ORIGINAL STORY] The Screven County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a reward for any information about a man with multiple active warrants for his arrest.
On November 10, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office said Dewayne Meeks was a suspect wanted in connection to several burglaries, and they were actively searching in the area of Plantation Road near Hiltonia Creek Road.
Now, the Screven County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward “for information leading to the arrest of Dewayne Otto Meeks.”

“Our deputies are actively working to locate and apprehend him, and we greatly appreciate the public’s assistance‚” the Sheriff’s Office says.
The Screven County Sheriff’s Office asks for anyone with information on Meeks’ location, or if anyone sees Meeks, to call 911 immediately.
