SPD gives update on officer injured in crash on White Bluff and Tibet
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 12:25 p.m. 11/5/2025] The officer who was injured has been released from the hospital, WTOC has confirmed.
SPD says it is not yet clear if the officer will return to work this week or not.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash, which was between a SPD patrol vehicle and a red Honda Accord.
Preliminary details of the investigation revealed that, while responding to an accident with injuries, “the Savannah police vehicle attempted to utilize the right lane to pass the Honda Accord while approaching from the rear.”
“As the patrol vehicle was approaching, the driver of the Honda attempted to yield by merging into the right lane,” the report states. ”The patrol vehicle struck the rear of the Honda as both vehicles merged into the right lane."
The officer was the only reported injury.
[ORIGINAL STORY] An officer was injured in a crash on White Bluff Road and Tibet Avenue, Savannah Police has just confirmed.
WTOC spoke with SPD, who says there was an accident with injuries at that location around 4:34 p.m. this afternoon.
The officer who was injured has been transported to the hospital.
Savannah Police have closed the intersection of White Bluff Rd and Tibet Ave at this time. Locals and travelers are advised to seek an alternate route.
