Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority gets to work
RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WTOC) - The future of an airport in Bryan County is taking off and the community has a chance to weigh in on the plans.
The Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority meets for the first time Monday, Aug. 18. The meeting is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Richmond Hill City Hall.

According to the agenda, the board members will be sworn in, nominate officers, go through a timeline of events and take comments from the public.
A feasibility study released this month recommends a 300-acre airport with 14 hangars and a runway 5,000 feet long. The study estimates it would cost more than $128 million to build. A Site Selection Study also lists five potential locations.
Georgia lawmakers passed a bill in April to establish the authority. The 11-member board was finalized at the end of June and includes the following members:
- Russ Carpenter, Richmond Hill Mayor
- Chris Lovell, Richmond Hill City Manager
- Ben Taylor, Bryan County Administrator
- Gene Wallace, Bryan County Commissioner
- Ryan Purvis, Bryan County Development Authority CEO
- Trip Addison, Bryan County Development Authority Board of Directors
- Marvin Daniel, President and CEO of Daniel Defense
- Christian Rushing, Chief pilot at Lowcountry Flight Company
- Glen Williard, former Bryan County Commissioner
- John Seckinger, Vice President of Dozier Worldwide Cranes
- Eric Rice, pilot, Owner of Tosa Coffee Company
