Nearly $1 million invested to expand health care access in Chatham County
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -Access to health care in Chatham County is getting a major boost.
The Chatham County Hospital Authority Trust has awarded $964,000 in grant funding to four nonprofit organizations working to provide critical health care services for uninsured and indigent residents. The funding was distributed through a competitive grant process and marks the Trust’s second year of grant awards.
The grants support organizations delivering essential services including primary care, hospice support, medication access, and chronic disease management.
Grant Recipients
- Curtis V. Cooper Primary Health Care, Inc. – $250,000
- Hospice Savannah, Inc. – $214,000
- J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center, Inc. – $250,000
- MedBank Foundation, Inc. – $250,000
Funding will focus on expanding access to behavioral and mental health services, health screenings, dental care, diabetes and specialty treatment, and patient navigation resources.
“These grants reflect our commitment to improving access to quality health care for our most vulnerable residents,” said Joyce Roche, chairperson of the Chatham County Hospital Authority. “By investing in trusted community partners, we are helping ensure essential services are available across Chatham County”.
The Trust partnered with United Way of the Coastal Empire to administer the application process, while retaining full authority over funding decisions.
